What sets Imagination Verbena apart is its legendary toughness paired with prolific blooming. This variety was honored for exhibiting superior garden performance and an extraordinary ability to endure summer heat, drought, and severe weather, qualities that make it refreshingly low-maintenance compared to fussier ornamentals. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or starting out, Imagination's easy-to-grow nature and proven award-winning status mean you're planting something genuinely proven to perform season after season.
Imagination Verbena is grown primarily as an ornamental flowering plant, ideal for summer color in garden beds, containers, and landscapes. Its compact habit and prolific blooming make it excellent for mass plantings, border edges, and mixed container gardens where reliable color throughout the season is desired.
Start Imagination Verbena seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last spring frost date. Maintain soil temperatures around 70-75°F for consistent germination. Seeds can be surface-sown or lightly covered, as they benefit from some light exposure during germination.
Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost date once soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days. Space transplants 24 inches apart to accommodate mature width.
Direct sowing is possible after all frost danger has passed and soil has warmed, though starting indoors typically gives earlier blooms.
Deadhead spent flower clusters regularly to encourage continuous blooming and maintain a tidier appearance. Light pinching back of leggy growth in early season promotes bushier, more compact plants with increased flowering sites.
