What sets Premium Sun Coral Candy Coleus apart is its ability to flourish in full sun where many coleus varieties struggle, most prefer partial shade. The compact, 12-18 inch stature and tight 12-inch spread make it perfect for containers, borders, and small garden spaces where you don't want an overgrown plant stealing the show. Its extended bloom window from June through November means you'll enjoy continuous visual appeal well into fall, and the coral-candy coloring intensifies in strong light, creating a luminous quality that catches the eye from across the garden.
Premium Sun Coral Candy Coleus is grown primarily as an ornamental foliage plant for garden beds, container displays, and mixed borders where its coral coloring provides vivid contrast against green-leaved companions. The compact habit makes it especially valuable for patio containers, window boxes, and small garden designs where space is limited.
Start seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before your last frost date. Sprinkle seeds on the soil surface and cover lightly with vermiculite. Maintain temperatures between 70-75°F for optimal germination, which typically occurs within 10-20 days. Keep the seedling flat consistently moist but not waterlogged during this period.
Transplant seedlings outdoors after your last frost date once soil has warmed and plants have developed several true leaves. Space plants 1 inch apart for dense foliage coverage. Harden off seedlings gradually by exposing them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before final planting.
Direct sow seeds outdoors after the last frost date. Sprinkle seeds on the soil surface and cover lightly with vermiculite. Keep the area consistently moist until seedlings emerge.
Pinch back growing tips regularly during the season to encourage bushier, more compact growth and to maintain the plant's tidy 12-18 inch height. This prevents the plant from becoming leggy and promotes denser foliage coverage.
