Sow indoors in pots about 6 to 8 weeks before planting out. Provide a cold period by keeping seeds at 35 to 40°F for 10 days, then move to 65 to 70°F. Keep soil moist by placing a humidity dome over containers until germination, which typically occurs 13 to 25 days after the chill period.
Harden off seedlings and transplant out after the last frost date in your area. Space plants 24 inches apart. Plants started indoors will generally flower the following year after transplanting.
Direct sow seed in spring to summer for flowers the following year. Press seed lightly into prepared soil.
