White Wonder Tomato is an open-pollinated heirloom that produces strikingly pale, snow-colored fruits on tall indeterminate vines reaching 48 to 60 inches. Maturing in 90 to 99 days from transplant, this slicing tomato delivers surprising sweetness in every bite, making it a memorable addition to summer gardens and fresh plates. The plants thrive in full sun with moderate water, reaching their peak in USDA zones where nights stay warm and frost arrives predictably.

These round, ghostly-pale fruits stop people in their tracks with their unusual appearance, but the real revelation is the flavor, described by seed catalogs as a sweet treat that outperforms many red varieties. The indeterminate growth habit means continuous production throughout the season, rewarding patient gardeners with weeks of uncommon, elegant tomatoes. Unlike most white varieties, White Wonder resists a broad spectrum of serious tomato diseases while maintaining the vigor of a true heirloom.
These pale, round fruits are prized for fresh slicing in summer salads and on the plate, where their unusual color creates striking visual contrast with darker greens and other vegetables. The sweet flavor makes them excellent for eating fresh from the vine, and their tender flesh suits them well to simple preparations that highlight their delicate taste without heavy cooking or processing.

Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Maintain soil temperatures between 68 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit for reliable germination. Use seed-starting mix kept consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Transplant seedlings outdoors after hardening off for 7 to 10 days and once soil temperatures remain above 60 degrees Fahrenheit and all frost danger has passed. Space plants 24 inches apart with rows 36 inches apart. Plant slightly deeper than they grew in containers to encourage strong root development.
Harvest White Wonder tomatoes when they reach full size and develop a creamy, pale yellow or ivory color throughout. The fruits should yield slightly to gentle pressure, indicating ripe flesh within. Pick tomatoes in the early morning when temperatures are cool, and they'll maintain better quality than afternoon harvests. Expect continuous production from these indeterminate plants throughout the season, roughly 90 to 99 days after transplanting.
As an indeterminate variety, White Wonder benefits from light pruning of suckers (shoots growing between the main stem and branches) to improve air circulation and direct energy into fruit production. Remove only the lowest leaves once the plant is well-established, improving airflow around the base where disease pressure tends to concentrate. Avoid aggressive pruning, which stresses the plant; focus instead on removing obviously diseased or damaged growth.
