Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date in your region, giving these determinate tomatoes time to establish strong root systems before transplanting.
Transplant outdoors only after nighttime temperatures consistently stay above 50°F, as tomatoes are sensitive to frost. Plant in locations with good sunlight exposure and proper spacing for air circulation.
Harvest Caribe tomatoes when they achieve vibrant red color and feel firm yet slightly yielding to gentle pressure, typically around 85 days from transplant. Look for fruits that have developed their characteristic sweet, rich flavor and uniform red appearance. Gently twist or cut tomatoes from the vine using sharp garden shears to avoid damaging the plant or bruising the fruit, handling with care during the synchronous harvest period.
As determinate tomatoes, Caribe plants require minimal pruning since they naturally grow as compact bushes and set their fruit all at once. Focus on providing proper support rather than extensive pruning to accommodate their bush-type growth habit.
