This petite 5-foot vine rewards gardeners with lush blooms that attract hummingbirds and bees throughout the growing season. Deep magenta buds unfurl into creamy white petals that smell as sweet as they look, creating a sensory delight in any garden space. The variety stays evergreen in mild climates and shows remarkable resilience, resisting mildew while thriving through heat, drought, and humidity. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller gardens where you want maximum floral impact without overwhelming neighboring plants.
This honeysuckle serves dual purposes as both an ornamental flowering vine and an edible crop. The sweet-scented blooms make excellent cut flowers and attract beneficial pollinators, while the plant can be trained up trellises for vertical gardening or allowed to cascade as groundcover. Its compact growth habit makes it suitable for container growing and smaller garden spaces where traditional climbing honeysuckles might become too aggressive.

Sow seeds directly outdoors one inch deep with 6-8 inches between seeds and 30-36 inches between rows. Choose a sunny location keeping in mind that these upright plants can potentially block sunlight from shorter neighboring crops.
Harvest when kernels are firm to the touch, typically 80-89 days from planting. To harvest ears, firmly pull downward while twisting. Visual cues include full kernel development and milky juice when kernels are punctured. Unhusked ears can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week after harvest.
With its upright growth habit, this honeysuckle benefits from light pruning to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead or damaged stems in early spring, and trim back excessive growth to keep the vine within desired bounds when grown on trellises.
