Hardy in zones 8 and thriving in full sun, this vigorous variety grows 3 to 4 feet tall and produces an abundance of long, sturdy stems perfect for cutting. Plant tubers in late spring after soil temperatures reach 60 degrees, and expect blooms within 80 to 100 days.

What sets Mystique apart is its distinctive frosted appearance, the rich mauve tones fade at the petal edges to create a smoky, almost ethereal quality that's rare among dahlias. The plant is exceptionally productive, generating countless cutting-ready stems from a single season's growth. Gardeners who grow Mystique specifically for the vase find its combination of long stems, sturdy form, and unusual color makes it invaluable for floral arrangements that demand both substance and subtle elegance.
Mystique Dahlia excels as a cut flower, with florists and home arrangers prizing it for its long, reliable stems and distinctive coloring. The decorative bloom form and substantial 4-inch flower size make it equally at home in formal arrangements or casual garden bouquets, where the frosted mauve tones pair well with both pastels and deeper jewel tones.
Plant Mystique tubers directly into garden soil in late spring when soil temperatures have reached 60 degrees Fahrenheit, timing your planting around your region's last frost date. In areas with a short growing season like the Northeast, plan your planting window accordingly to ensure the tubers have sufficient time to mature before the first fall frost.
Cut Mystique blooms when the flower is fully open and the petals have fully developed their distinctive frosted mauve coloring. Harvest in the early morning using sharp, clean cutting tools, selecting stems that are long and sturdy. The variety's abundance of blooms means you can harvest frequently throughout the growing season without reducing overall flower production.
