Start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date, maintaining soil temperatures of 55–65°F for optimal germination. Sow seeds at a depth of 1 inch in seed-starting mix, keep the soil consistently moist, and provide bright light once seedlings emerge. Transplant seedlings outdoors 4 to 6 weeks after sowing, timing this to occur around your average last frost date.
Transplant seedlings outdoors 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date when they can tolerate cool spring conditions. Handle seedlings gently and space them 6 inches apart in full sun to partial shade locations with well-draining soil.
Direct sowing is recommended for Royal Blend Sweet Pea. In cold climates, sow seeds outdoors 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date. In mild climates, sow in late fall through early winter for spring blooms. Sow seeds 1 inch deep and maintain consistent moisture until germination occurs.
Harvest sweet pea flowers regularly by cutting blooms in the early morning when the stems are fully hydrated and flowers are freshly opened. Cut stems at or just above a leaf node to encourage continued flowering throughout the season. The more frequently you harvest, the longer the plant will produce new blooms, as removing flowers prevents seed set and extends the flowering window.
