Wonderland Series earned its Fleuroselect Gold Medal specifically for strong, consistent garden performance paired with sweet-smelling aromatics that make it a joy to brush past in the garden. The flowers form remarkably tight, dwarf mounds at just 6 to 9 inches tall, so they don't sprawl or require heavy deadheading to stay neat. Whether reviving a tired flower bed, cascading from a hanging basket, or softening the edges of a window box, this cultivar delivers color and fragrance without fussing.
Wonderland Series Alyssum is grown purely for ornamental purposes. It excels in window boxes where its compact mound habit and trailing tendency create soft, fragrant displays at eye level. Gardeners use it in hanging baskets for vertical color, to edge flower beds with low-growing definition, and as a dependable filler to revitalize tired or bare spots in mixed borders. Its sweet fragrance makes it especially popular near seating areas and entryways where its scent can be appreciated up close.

Sow seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before your last spring frost. Press seeds lightly onto moist seed-starting mix without covering them, as light aids germination. Keep soil temperature between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Germination typically occurs within 7 to 10 days. Transplant seedlings outdoors after hardening off once nighttime temperatures remain above freezing.
Harden off seedlings over 7 to 10 days by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions. Transplant after the last frost date in your region, spacing plants 6 inches apart. Wonderland Series is frost-tolerant, so it can be planted earlier than more tender annuals. If starting from transplants, ensure soil is moist at planting time.
Direct sow seeds outdoors after the last spring frost when soil temperature reaches 50 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. Press seeds lightly into moist soil and do not cover them. Keep soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge. Thin seedlings to 6 inches apart once they develop true leaves.
Wonderland Series Alyssum's naturally tight, mounded growth habit requires minimal pruning. Occasional deadheading of spent flowers encourages continuous blooming, though this cultivar's dense habit and prolific flowering mean deadheading is not strictly necessary for appearance. If plants become leggy or overgrown mid-season, shear them back lightly by one-third to encourage fresh, compact growth and renewed flowering.

“The Wonderland Series represents modern selective breeding focused on garden reliability and compact form. Recognized by Fleuroselect, an international trial organization that evaluates ornamental plants for superior garden performance, this cultivar line demonstrates how intentional selection can enhance a species' vigor and consistency. Unlike older Alyssum varieties that sometimes grew lanky or sparse, Wonderland was specifically developed to maintain tight, full plants with superior blooming characteristics across diverse growing conditions.”
